Brian Westbrook wants to be a Bear
ACSS reporter Derek Wilson is out on assignment and has heard that Brian Westbrook wants to be a Bear. He will provide more detail when he can.
Fodor posted this last week about liking the Bears getting Westbrook. He is a very good running back, but has been hurt for most of his career. Having a lighter load might help him stay healthy which is what he would do on the Bears team with Forte getting the primary amount of carries.
So what do you think, should the Bears reach out to Westbrook?

On a scale of 0 to 10, with 10 being "Bulls get LeBron" and 0 being, say, "Chargers get Ryan Leaf", I would rate a Westbrook pickup about a 7.5. Which is to say, great move. I would love it.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I was a big Forte fan his rookie year, but he looked a step slow this year. Assuming Westbrook's concussion issues are over I think he would be great pick up. Seeing what Faulk put up in Martz's system I think Westbrook would be great. 10-15 touches a game would turn into a ton of yards.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm not on board with everyone who is saying Forte showed us last year he isn't that good. The guy played on a strained MCL, which occurred in week 3, and had to have surgery. Not to mention preseason and the first two games he was playing on an injured ankle and knee. Of course he looked a step slower. Would I love to add westbrook as a backup/someone to split time with Forte, yes. Do I think Westbrook is anywhere close to being beyond injuries? NO. The guy is injured every year. Don't count Forte out just yet. It's not like he had an Anthony Thomas, unexplained drop off. Forte played injured all season.
