Group Stage Final

And the Winner is Matt Transon

In yesterday's update, I forgot Matt still had Belgium to go. With Belgium's late goal over England, it propelled Matt to a first place with an impressive 23 points

Team Points Goal Dif
Matt Transon 23 9
Shark 20 4
Dan Noffke 17 0
Dave Weir 19 1
Mark Fodor 17 3
Tim Fodor 14 -9
Ryan Parrent 13 -4
Steve Noffke 12 -4

Fun Facts

  • Only 3 teams won each of their games, Croatia, Uruguay and Belgium. The latter two were on Matt Transon's team
  • Shark and Dan each have 3 teams advancing to the knock out stage
    • Dan advances with Japan, his 4th pick, on a tiebreaker of fewer yellow cards over Senegal
    • I believe this is the 1st time a 4th place team has advanced in any of these pools
    • Sweden was the only 3rd pick team to advance which is on Shark's team
  • On the flip side, Ryan and I only have 1 team going through.
    • I have Brazil, so that's ok. I was the only player not to have his 2nd round team advance
    • Ryan lost his 1st pick Germany. A pick anyone probably would have made, but 1st overall and finished last in their group
  • Tim Fodor finished last in Goal Differential at -9. This is 100% from Panama who finished -9.
  • Only two teams failed to score a point, Egypt and Panama

Alright check my math

World Cup Before Last Day

First off

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

To Ryan for Germany

The Transon brothers are tied at 20 points each, however Matt has a commanding +9 to +5 goal difference.

Tim has England going tomorrow while Matt has Senegal so this is still up in the air. Dan is lurking at 17 with Japan to go. Needs a lot to go right but he can still win.

World Cup 2 Games Update

Who's stupid idea was to do a group round stage. I blame everyone else for my failures.

Anyways, after 2 games we have a pretty tight race. 7 of our 8 teams are within 7 points, anything can still happen.

Matt Transon, who picked 8th, is currently in first with 17 points. Dave Weir is close behind with 15 and is closely followed by Tim Transon at 13. Then there's Dan Noffke at 11 and 3 teams tied at 10. Here are your full standings.

Team Points Goal Dif
Matt Transon 17 8
Dave Weir 15 5
Shark 13 1
Dan Noffke 11 0
Mark Fodor 10 1
Ryan Parrent 10 -2
Tim Fodor 10 -7
Steve Noffke 5 -6

Fun Facts

  • Our two top teams Matt Transon and Dave Weir are the only players to have 2 teams through after 2 games
    • Matt has 0 teams officially eliminated while Dave is down Tunisia
  • Mark Fodor is the only player to have 0 teams advance or eliminated after 2 games.
  • Japan is still paying off for Dan. Japan is the only team picked in the 4th round to get points in each of it's 2 games
    • Only Iran, win, and Austrailia, tie, are the other teams to score points being picked in the 4th round
  • Dan also has the worst pick so far. Taking Argentina 5th, they've only scored 1 point. They still have a chance to advance to the knockout round if they beat Nigeria tomorrow. They also need some help in the Croatia-Iceland game.
Here is the full scoring. Let me know if my math is wrong.
