Derek Anderson Keeps it Real

Most of the time, when athletes are angry at their organizations or fans, they keep to the standard PR lines. Well, Derek Anderson let loose on Cleveland today following his release.

Anderson wrote he will never forget that Browns fans cheered when he was injured on the field. He called them "ruthless" and said he hopes when he comes back to Cleveland with another team that "we roll them."

Just for the record, wherever Derek ends up holding a clipboard next year, the odds were already extremely good of "rolling" the Browns. Mangini Year Two: Where magic happens.

  1. HAHA that's awesome! I love when athletes let loose. Browns could win 5 games next year, you never know

  2. I think Anderson should have thanked the Browns on his way out the door, rather than making the comments he did that were most likely just out of frustration. He performed very poorly the past couple seasons with a huge contract.

  3. How big of a contract did he get? I thought he was being signed to 1 year deals at the end?

But I do agree, no other team gave him a chance. The Browns did and he took advantage of it and went to the Pro Bowl that year.

  4. Hard to get over people cheering when you get hurt. Especially when they're your own fans, supposedly.

Pretty sure this next year was going to be the big year of his contract, which is why the Browns cut him loose.

  5. I find it interesting that we all think that an athlete bashing Cleveland is great. I don't know about you guys but when Milton Bradley did this I thought he should just shut up, stop crying, and get to Seattle so we never have to see his sorry game again. I would be willing to be bet this is the same sentiment in Cleveland.

  6. So what you're saying is Cubs fans and Browns fans are equally unclassy? Seriously though, Cleveland is a dump and so are the people who reside in that city. I would have said to the fans and organization this: Listen, I'm just glad to be finally free of this dump you call a city. If I'd have to compare the two at least Detroit has classy fans. And if I was LeBron, no way I stay in that hell hole.

  7. Cleveland was just named the most miserable city in the nation a few weeks ago, but just because you live in a nice city doesn't mean your fans can't be classless. Quite frankly both organizations have not been great in well forever, (blah blah 100 years or what not)and that probably has something to do with the ruthlessness of the fans. But I think for the players to make a circus of it for the media is a waste of everybodies time. As a Bears fan I dont give a hoot if they cheered when Anderson was injured. And as a Cubs fan I dont wanna hear what a victim bradley was as a member of the cubs. If he was such a victim he should have brought it up last season not now.

To sum it all up if it wasn't a problem then it shouldn't be a problem now that you are on a new team so shut up and save us all the 10 minutes it takes to read the "story".

  8. Cleveland also had all the problems with people catching diseases from their workout facilities. It just sounds like an awful place to play, all around. And while we all expect something shitty like that from Milton Bradley, it's unusual to hear it from a 'non-controversial' guy like Derek Anderson.

Cleveland was just named the 13th craziest state in the US. Cincinnati was ranked 1 and Chicago did not make the top 25 list.
